Is the saffron consumption safe during pregnancy with milk and other things?

First of all we should survey and discuss about an opinion, Most pregnant women believe saffron consumption influence their baby’s complexion so ask much about this matter. The unprincipled consumption of saffron increases the prostaglandins in the uterus then causing increase rich of miscarriage.


How much saffron a pregnant lady can eat?

Before of each suggestion, we recommend the pregnant ladies to use according to her doctor opinion (obstetrician) because of high sensitivity during pregnancy.  Unprincipled consumption of saffron has serious and dangerous effects for the pregnant ladies.

You can add 1 – 2 saffron threads (strands) in your cocking or add your daily consumption of milk.

  • Anti - nausea and dizziness
  • Stomachache: Stomachache helps in increasing the milk production and gets rid of stomach ache problems. The anti-spasmodic effect that is present in it plays a key role in preventing the stomach ache pain.
  • Eye problem: Saffron is good for the vision health. Researchers have found that saffron during pregnancy helps vision in case of cataract and is some improvements.

Persian Saffron Shrimp Dish


  • 300 g Shrimp
  • 1 mushroom package
  • 2 carrots
  • Few Olive
  • 1 small Bell pepper
  • Saffron powder
  • Little garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1⁄3 cup extra virgin olive oil/ 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and Pepper


Chopped onions and fried until turning gold. Then grate the carrots into large chunks and add to the Grated bell pepper and cook them. Add mushrooms and shrimps at the same time. Mix all ingredients until thoroughly cooked mushrooms and shrimps as well. Finally your grated garlic, salt and pepper and add the saffron powder and turn off the flame. Pouring fresh lemon juice on it, food is ready. You can serve it.

Refreshing Saffron Syrup

Healthy and refreshing drink with saffron Persian


  • Sugar: 3 kg
  • Water: 2-3 glasses
  • Lemon juice: 1 glass
  • Saffron: desired size
  • Egg white: 1


The first: add water and sugar into a bowl and put them on the heat until boil and sugar is completely dissolved. Then add the egg whites and mix them and wait a bit for mixing more and then turn off the flame.
The second: When slightly syrup cools, you should smooth them by the filter cloth and again put them on the heat to boil then turn off.
The third: add lemon juice and saffron syrup
Now, your syrup is ready, you could use icy templates with various tasty like Sisymbrium irio, Mentha, Chicory and etc.

Pistachios Fruit-Saffron Cake


  • 3 seedless fruits (including lemon, orange) washed, divided
  • 1 teaspoon pure saffron
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 4 egg (big and very fresh)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raw pistachios (shelled and coarsely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup honey


  • Put two whole oranges (unpeeled) in microwave safe bowl and cover. Heats on high power until oranges are very soft and liquid are beginning to pool at bottom of bowl, 6 to 8 minutes. When oranges are cool enough to handle, slice into quarters and process in food processor until pureed.
  • Crush most of the saffron with a mortar and pestle, and put half of the powder then in small bowl, stir 1 tablespoon of the juice in bottom of bowl with 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads.
  • In large bowl, Break the egg and sugar together until smooth and creamy then add rest of dry ingredients. Add a couple of tablespoons of warm milk and water mix. Then draw in mixture from the outside to cover the yeast.
  • Cover with a damp cloth and leave for 10 minutes.
  • When the yeast starts to bubble, add cooled saffron and enough lukewarm milk and water to mix to a soft sticky dough. Put in a warm place, covered with damp cloth, until doubled in size.
  • Place tablespoons of mixture on baking tray, lined with parchment, and spacing well. Return to a warm place to allow rising.
  • Bake in a hot oven 350°F. Line 9-inch  for 10-15 minutes
  • Zest strips of outer peel from remaining orange and then juice orange. In small saucepan heat zest, juice, honey, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads until warm.
  • Invert cake onto serving plate and remove paper. Poke holes into cake with skewer and pour syrup over cake. Cool to room temperature and serve.
